This DOES NOT APPLY to YOUR mother or female FAMILY MEMBERS older than you, YOUR woman, the elderly, toddlers, physically or mentally handicapped or someone (male or female) that is carrying items and their hands are NOT FREE to open the door for themselves.
This DOES APPLY to any female, other than those that fit in the above category, that EXPECT you to hold the door open for them JUST BECAUSE they are female.

Let's focus on that door and see how it should be managed and before I do that I need to establish CLEAR definitions to eliminate confusion from the IDIOTS and MORONS that will be reading this.
[DEFINITIONS]
OPEN THE DOOR. You OPEN THE DOOR and WAIT for someone or people to enter BEFORE you do.
HOLD THE DOOR OPEN. You open the door for yourself, go in first and HOLD THE DOOR OPEN for the person entering behind you to REACH FOR the door so that it does not close on them.

Believe it or not, THERE ARE females that will see you going toward the same door as she is and will SLOW DOWN and EXPECT YOU to open the door for her EVEN THOUGH her hands are free and she got to the door before you.
[WHO SHOULD OPEN THE DOOR]
This is NOT BEING A GENTLEMAN OR MAN THING. This is simply a BEING CONSIDERATE OF THE OTHER PERSON THING.
Whoever gets to the door first AND is physically capable of opening the door should open the door be it male or female.
[RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE DOOR MANNERS]
Now here are some behaviors that I have OBSERVED that occurs with MANY females:
1. She will get to the door first, open it and go in first EVEN THOUGH she expects HIM to open the door for her IF he gets there first.
2. She WILL NOT make eye contact with HIM yet she still expects HIM to open the door for her.
3. She WILL NOT say thank you after she passes through the door HE HAS OPENED FOR HER.
4. She WILL NOT reach for the door HE is holding for her and simply pass through EXPECTING HIM to hold the door while she passes him by.
5. She opens the door FOR HERSELF and does not hold the door for a male coming behind her to reach for it BEFORE it begins to close on him.
[VERY FEW WILL CRITICIZE THEIR RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE DOOR MANNERS]
Very few will criticize a female for the above behavior and this is why THEY DON'T DESERVE to have the door opened for them.
[WHAT SHOULD MALES DO]
1. If she gets to the door before you, wait to see if she will open the door and let you go in first. If she does, make eye contact and say THANK YOU as you walk through.
2. If you get to the door first and as you are going through you look back and see a CAPABLE female coming behind you, IF:
a) SHE DOES NOT make eye contact with you while you are HOLDING THE DOOR OPEN and/or
b) SHE DOES NOT make ANY attempt to reach for the door then
SHE HAS NO RESPECT FOR YOU SO LET THE DOOR CLOSE ON HER.
[CONCLUSION]
As long as males continue to COMPLY with their RUDE and INCONSIDERATE DOOR MANNERS, females will continue to behave in such a manner AND expect you to accept their rude and inconsiderate behavior.
